Celebrating Kartini Day by Wearing ‘Batik’ and ‘Kebaya’ to Campus
[:en]April, 21st 2016 was an exciting day for Microbiology ITB students and lecturers. All of student and lecturer were celebrated the born of R.A Kartini, one of the national Indonesian hero that fought for Indonesian women rights and education.
Kartini was the first women that struggled and launched the women emancipation so now Indonesian women has the same rights and position with men. To commemorate the Kartini Day, all Microbiology ITB students encouraged and requested to wear batik clothes or kebaya dress for female students at that day, including all staff and lecturers of Microbiology ITB.
In Kartini Day, the atmosphere in School of Life Sciences and Technology (SITH) building, Selasar Kebab was very cheerful, since everyone was worn the colorful nusantara batik clothes. The batik and its colorful symbols and motifs were believed to cause the increase of spirit of joy to the people that wore it.
Moreover, some female lecturers and students looks beautiful and elegant in their kebaya dress. To capture this special moment, Microbiology ITB lecturers and students took pictures together in front of SITH building, at selasar kebab. The unforgettable moment was made on that day.
